The Plant Health Biotechnology and Bioinformatics Engineering Group adopts an interdisciplinary and advanced science–based approach to the study, analysis, and improvement of plant health from the molecular to the systems level. Focusing on key challenges in plant pathology, the group provides innovative, data-driven solutions for the identification, monitoring, and management of pests, diseases, and stresses affecting crop plants.
By integrating plant biotechnology, genetics, and molecular sciences with bioinformatics, omics data analysis, and artificial intelligence, the group aims to deepen the understanding of plant–pathogen–environment interactions, develop rapid diagnostic tools, and design predictive and decision-support systems. The ultimate goal of these activities is to provide scientific support for sustainable agriculture, reduce reliance on chemical inputs, and enhance the productivity of strategic crops through the generation of applied knowledge and the development of technologies transferable to practical implementation and commercialization.
